Great Western's Engine #51 works up a full head of steam in preparation for its trip through Washington State's scenic Yakima River Canyon. Film Photography -- image was taken in 1989 during the Washington State Centennial celebration and later digitized for reproduction.
About Larey and Phyllis McDaniel
Phyllis & Larey McDaniel Phyllis & Larey McDaniel Larey was born in Wallowa, Oregon and got his first clarinet and camera at about the same time in Bremerton, Washington. He has been enthralled with both art forms ever since and has created a professional life that neatly intertwines the two, playing bass clarinet with the Seattle Symphony until retiring in 2014 and showing his photography at Parklane Gallery in Kirkland since 2001. Phyllis was born in Fargo, North Dakota, studied music at Augsburg College in Minneapolis and graduated from the University of Washington. She has been a professional musician as well as an interior designer and photographer, displaying her fine art photography at the EAFA Gallery, Shack Art Center,...
