4449 was the manufactured in 1941, and was the Coast Daylight, Southern Pacific's premier passenger train between San Francisco and Los Angeles, California. It was later dubbed "The Freedom Train". This image was captured on film in 1989 and transferred to digital format for printing.

Phyllis & Larey McDaniel Phyllis & Larey McDaniel Larey was born in Wallowa, Oregon and got his first clarinet and camera at about the same time in Bremerton, Washington. He has been enthralled with both art forms ever since and has created a professional life that neatly intertwines the two, playing bass clarinet with the Seattle Symphony until retiring in 2014 and showing his photography at Parklane Gallery in Kirkland since 2001. Phyllis was born in Fargo, North Dakota, studied music at Augsburg College in Minneapolis and graduated from the University of Washington.
